The Global Investment Summit, hosted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, aimed to attract international funding for the UK’s “green industrial revolution.” The event united influential business leaders such as Alison Rose (NatWest Group), Emma Walmsley (GlaxoSmithKline), and Jamie Dimon (JP Morgan Chase), alongside dignitaries including US climate envoy John Kerry and scientists like Professor Sarah Gilbert, who led the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine development.
Held in Illuminate at the Science Museum, the summit was a fitting venue to showcase cutting-edge green technologies. Delegates explored the museum’s galleries, featuring exhibits such as a fusion device from Tokamak Energy and Rolls Royce’s electric aircraft engines. The Prime Minister and Bill Gates announced a partnership with the Gates Foundation to support green tech investment, while the Business Secretary unveiled the UK’s net-zero strategy. Following speeches from prominent figures, delegates were transported to Windsor Castle for a reception hosted by the Royal Family.
From initial planning through to execution. Working closely with internal teams—including operations, catering, and AV—we ensured that every detail was carefully coordinated, especially given the event’s high-profile nature. The museum’s Illuminate space was a new venue for the summit, requiring additional coordination to guarantee smooth operations in this fresh setting.
One of the significant challenges involved collaborating with external security teams to safeguard royal attendees and other dignitaries. We managed access control protocols, VIP transport logistics, and maintained seamless communication among all stakeholders. Given the media attention and high-profile guest list, meticulous planning was crucial to balance security with a welcoming atmosphere.
Event Challenges and Planning
The event demanded meticulous planning due to its high-profile nature. Coordinating stringent security protocols for royal and dignitary attendance alongside the logistical complexities of utilising the museum’s new event spaces required detailed attention. Additionally, integrating discussions across multiple areas of the museum, including Illuminate and the Smith Centre, demanded precise orchestration.
Client Feedback
The summit successfully combined high-level networking with thought leadership, creating a memorable and impactful experience. The flawless execution, despite the complexities involved, highlighted the strength of collaboration between our agency, security teams, operational partners, and external stakeholders.
